N. “Rod” Gordon Thompson, Jr. joined TD Capital in January of 2013. He serves in the role of Wealth Advisor. His role includes regular communication with clients regarding their specific financial issues and assisting them regarding their day to day needs from their portfolios. Rod is responsible for the implementation of the clients’ investment strategies, along with various other projects surrounding the client’s long term financial goals and objectives.
Rod joined our firm after spending two and a half years at Strategic Financial Partners in Memphis, TN. There he worked as a Financial Advisor and Registered Representative. He focused on individual retirement planning and forming risk management solutions for both businesses and individuals in the areas of life, disability, and long term care insurance.
Rod holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation and assists divorcing couples with financial modeling to facilitate financial settlements.
Rod became an Equity Member of the firm effective January 1, 2023.
Education and Professional
- Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the University of Memphis in 2009.
- Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in 2010.
- CFP® and CDFA professional designations.
- Series 63 and Series 65 license.
Outside Interests
Rod and his wife Jenny live in East Memphis. Their first son, Trey, arrived in March of 2017 and their second son, Graves, in October of 2022. Aside from spending time with his family, he enjoys playing golf and traveling to Oxford, MS to attend various sporting events. Rod previously served as the Junior Representative to the Board of Directors at Chickasaw Country Club. Rod previously served on the Board of Directors for Christ Methodist Day School.
